St Andrews Links

I’ve been luckily enough to play the Strathyrum course in the Wee Wonders Final in 2018.

Gullane Golf Club

I’ve played Course Number 2.  Fabulous course, great views and a great 17th hole !

Course Location

A Tee Box with a view (at Torphins Golf Club)

The 13th hole at Torphins Golf Club is the most elevated tee box on the course. It gives 360 degree views of the surrounding Royal Deeside countryside and in the distance the large mountains of the Cairngorms.

The hole is a 237 yard (from yellow tees) par 3.

Watch the video below to see my tee shot to the edge of green. Dad didn’t catch the the two other strokes where I parred the hole. Seriously bad camera work….

Glen Golf Club

Situated in North Berwick the Glen Golf Club is a dramatic cliff top golf course with great views.   Dad and I played this on a summer Saturday afternoon in 2016.   The 18th is great fun but look out for the parked cars to the right!

Royal Musselburgh Golf Club

Great course.  I played here during my week with Loretto Golf Academy.

Course Location

Carnoustie Golf Links

I played at Carnoustie Links in a Wee Wonders North & East Scotland regional final in July 2017.   What a quite amazing golf course.  Fantastic course, challenging weather conditions and such friendly people in the club house.  A privilege to play there.  I’ll be back.

Course Location

Mains of Taymouth Golf Course

Played here on holiday as it was on the site of our apartment.   This is the first proper golf course my dad and I spent some decent time on.  He was really bad with his 5 iron although he did get his first ever Par 5 here.  Originally called the Kenmore Golf Club.

Very picturesque in sunny Autumn colours.  The week after we left they had storms !

Course Location

Lumphanan Golf Club

Whoa, Lumphanan Golf Club near Banchory in Aberdeenshire is a tricky course.  Do not be fooled by the distances on the scorecard.   In total the mix of nine par 3 & 4 holes measure 1,859 yards but the demand accuracy and good positioning.
The course follows a route around a hill and doubles back on itself.  Plenty of unforgiving rough if you don’t hit the shots well.    It’s worth doing the course for the experience of the 9th hole which is a tight par 3 that drops way down from an elevated tee.
We played here on the same day we played 18 holes at nearby Torphins Golf Club and that felt a good balance.
If you’re thinking of staying somewhere local then we recommend The Macbeth Arms.
